Snow was melting on a warm Sunday afternoon when the Cape Shore Chorale presented an Epiphany concert at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

The full moon was shining bright over Marie and Lloyd Hayes’ lagoon home when guests arrived for their holiday party. Marie wore her Santa apron and spiral Santa hat when she greeted Carol Heenan, Eric Wakabayashi and Jim and I at the door while Ryan and Evan Jones took our coats and stored boxes and bags of canned goods everyone brought for the Food Cupboard.

The Flanders Hotel was decorated for Christmas when guests arrived for the holiday English high tea held in the Crystal Ballroom. Karen Bergman and Denise Sammartino greeted guests and showed them to their tables when they arrived.

The Ocean City Home Bank postponed their tree lighting for a week due to rain, but it was worth the wait as it was a beautiful evening when a large crowd gathered in the bank parking lot.

The sights and sounds of Christmas are everywhere and The Title Company of Jersey got a jump on the season and put everyone in the holiday spirit when they held an open house the week before Thanksgiving at their newly renovated offices at Seventh and West.

It was the social event of the season when The Flanders Hotel celebrated their 90th anniversary. It felt like we were stepping back in time we arrived in 1920s attire and posed for pictures in front of antique cars provided by Jersey Cape Region Antique Automobile Club lined up in front of the hotel.

The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce held their Citizen of the Year and Outstanding Business and Beautification Awards dinner recently at the Ocean City Yacht Club. When Carol Heenan and I arrived, we waited to be greeted by the chamber staff as JT Williams was busy posing Shawnda McGinnis, Rose Savastano, Caitlin Greene, Nancy Neal and Barbara Brown for a photo.

Guests arrived at the Ocean City Yacht Club lined with bright colored mums along the walkway for the Ocean City Education Foundation’s Benefit by the Bay. President Dave Allegretto and Vice President Mary Beth Snow were seated near the door and thanked everyone for coming.

The Ocean City Community Center Association held their annual “Endless Summer” benefit at Café Luciano Lamberti in Seaview Harbor on a beautiful September evening. The harbor was still filled with boats at docks and the sunset glistened on the water.

With the threat of rain, Ocean City Exchange Club members and guests set out on a three-hour tour on the Jersey Shore Pirate Ship in the back bay of Ocean City. Jim and I met up with Toni and Fred Marcell as we walked out on the dock to board the ship. Fred sported a black top hat with his shorts and sandals on the last day of summer.

The Ocean City Ecumenical Council hosted their annual Volunteer Luncheon recently at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church. Lunch co-chairwomen Nancy Notaro and Carol Evans welcomed me when I arrived and showed me the 30th anniversary cake made and donated by Darren DiPetro, owner of The Cake Studio at 1046 Asbury Ave.

The bayfront home of Joan and Harry Bellwoar was the setting for the Ocean City Sailing Foundation’s dinner on a late summer evening. I joined Eleanor Parker, Joan Allen, Pat Haughey and Liz Burns to enjoy the view and hors d’oeuvres while my husband chatted with fellow Marine Mike Allen.

For the past 30 years, a group of 20-plus ladies have been playing tennis every Tuesday followed by dinner. This members of this group, called TAGET (Tennis and Gourmet Every Tuesday), host dinners from mid-June through mid-September.

The Ocean City Yacht Club presented “The Real Housewives of Ocean City” at their annual dinner and fashion show. I joined Kathleen Haggerty after we parked our cars and walked up Bay Avenue to the Yacht Club where Joann Santora took our picture standing in front of a 2012 Steel Gray Fisker Karma convertible, a sporty European automobile.

Friends of the Ocean City Pops hosted their 24th annual summer luncheon at the Greate Bay Country Club on a sunny August day. Pat Migliaccio and Delores Dengler-Vitas greeted guests at the top of the stairs and gave out table assignments.

Miss Ocean City 2014 was crowned at the Music Pier before a large crowd of family and friends. The Ocean City Exchange Club sponsored the pageant again this year.

Night in Venice sailed along the bayfront on a hot, sunny evening where everyone had a wonderful time and the thunderstorms that were predicted never materialized.
When Jim and I rode our bikes down Walnut Road, we waved to friends sitting on porches on our way to Don and Andrea Paul’s party. Will Evans walked up after parking his car as we locked our bikes and admired the Paul’s new porch and landscaping.

Miss Night in Venice 2013 was crowned recently on the stage at the Moorlyn Family Theatre before a crowd of family and friends. After turning in their money at noon at Ocean City Home Bank, contestants had their hair coifed, manicures and such and arrived at Fifth Street and Boardwalk in long gowns ready for the parade.
