Just back from the winter in Florida, Bill Meis arrived at the same time as Jim and I. Curt Gronert was stationed near the door to welcome guests when they arrived.

The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce combined their annual installation dinner at the Greate Bay Country Club with their 2012 Citizen of the Year and Business Beautification Awards, which was postponed in November due to Hurricane Sandy. Barbara Brown and Caitlin Greene along with JT Williams welcomed guests when they arrived while Michele Gillian and Shawnda McGinnis tended to last minute details.

Knox Scholarship Benefit draws friends from far and near

The 12th annual Charles Knox Memorial Scholarship Benefit was held at The Flanders Hotel on a snowy Friday night in February. Music filled the air as I climbed the steps to the second floor where I was greeted by Helena Hamilton and Michelle DeFelice, both wearing black. Arlene and Paul Stryker were thrilled that so many of their friends and family from Philadelphia drove to Ocean City on such a miserable night for this benefit.

The Ocean City Education Foundation recently presented Coach Bingo Night at Sandi Pointe Coastal Bistro in Somers Point. The parking lots were full and ladies were lined up out the door when I arrived as everyone was excited to have the chance to win a Coach purse.

A large crowd gathered at the Greate Bay Country Club for the Ocean City High School surf team scholarship fundraiser on a late winter Friday night. Peggy Blizzard and Susan Biglin were stationed just inside the door to welcome guests when they arrived while upstairs Jennifer Bowman made sure everyone got tickets for the raffle and door prizes.

After months of planning our dream vacation to Hawaii under the guiding hand of our travel agent, Peggy Doyle, Jim and I were finally on our way up the Atlantic City Expressway to the airport with a light snow on the ground. Pacifico Valet dropped us at the airport and our 7 a.m. US Airways flight left on time.

When Hurricane Sandy forced the Rotary Club of Ocean City-Upper Township to cancel their 17th annual 2012 Fall Fling, the club rescheduled for Jan. 25, only to have a snowstorm predicted for that night.
