The Colony Club of Ocean City held their annual luncheon and fashion show on a sunny Saturday at The Flanders. Just a month before, Marion McCaughey was informed the venue where the luncheon was booked and been held annually on the same Saturday since 2007 was not available as the country cub had mistakenly booked a wedding.

The 23rd annual Stainton Society brunch was held at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa on a lovely spring Sunday morning. Ned McCaughey did his usual job chauffeuring Irene and George Reeves, who just returned from their winter home in Florida, and Jim and I to the brunch without so much as a word of direction from his wife, Marion.

Peggy Lloyd, center, enjoys the Book of Golden Deeds dinner with Joe Youngblood, Rody O’Rourke, Joe Libby, Bill Woods, Eleanor Raymond and Martha Snellbaker.
The Exchange Club’s 47th annual Book of Golden Deeds award dinner had the biggest crowd ever to honor this year’s recipient, Margaret “Peggy” Lloyd. Curt Gronert, Dave Eisle and Brandon Dierolf greeted guests when they arrived. Joe Libby, who chaired this year’s event, was busy tending to last minute details, but made sure he got in a couple of my pictures while his wife, Marie, took lots of pictures with their camera.

It was fun, games and good food when Colony Club hosted game night at Union Chapel with all proceeds going to support Gilda’s Club. Eileen Adams coordinated this fundraiser and she and Lynn Brock picked up food trays from Yianni’s Café. Barbara Keen and Phyllis Bonner were setting them out the buffet when I arrived.

Stu Leichtenstein, Mary Beth Snow, Dave Allegretto, Carrie Merritt, Tom Aromando and Cecilia Gallelli-Keyes welcome guests to the Ocean City Education Foundation benefit.
The Ocean City Education Foundation held their third annual Benefit by the Bay last Friday night at Sandi Point in Somers Point and the local crowd traveled across the bridge to enjoy a fun evening. I met Kim and Matt Davidson in the parking lot and we walked in together.

The 50th anniversary of the ’62 storm was the topic for the annual Natives Night at the Ocean City Historical Museum. Since Jim and I had a story to tell, we arrived at the museum early with son, Jimmy, who wanted to hear about the storm.

Friends and Volunteers of the Ocean City Free Public Library held their fourth annual Author’s Tea at The Flanders on a warm sunny afternoon. Barbara Weber and new volunteer, Pauline Kretzu, greeted guests when they arrived and directed them to the stairs or elevators. Pauline summered in Ocean City since ’86 and is delighted to live here year-round. Carolyn Lothian entertained at the grand piano while guests gathered in the lobby.

Cameras were flashing at the Historical Museum as every newspaper in the area was on hand to cover the release of Susan and Fred Millers’ newest book, their eighth, “Legendary Locals of Ocean City.” And everyone wanted the authors to autograph their book after they purchased it from Johnette Halpin.

"The Living Last Supper” is becoming an Easter tradition in Ocean City as St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in conjunction with the Ocean City Tabernacle brought to life Leonardo Da Vinci’s masterpiece again this Easter. Andrea and Don Paul were giving last minute instructions to ushers, Phoebe and Gene Lindacher, Ginny and Dick Strang, Gayle Robbins, Nancy Notaro, Carol Evans and Elinore Carlstrom, when I arrived.

Excited parents and screaming students packed the performing arts center of the high school as 12 seniors took to the stage vying for the title of Mr. OCHS. This columnist had the pleasure of judging the contest again and made my way down the aisle to the judge’s table in front of the stage where I joined fellow judges Liz Ulmer, Antwan McClellan, who was Mr. OCHS ’93, and Michael Martirone.

Nicolette Naticchione, Summer Ginn, Emily Duggan, Danielle Bopf and Alex Papazacharis are ready to work at the PTA’s annual Spring Carnival.
The Primary School was the place to be last Saturday morning for the annual PTA Spring Carnival. Lisa Allegretto, Terri Ney and Leigh Murray had their table set up at the entrance to the multi-purpose room to sell tickets for the children to play the games.
