After five years as president of the Atlantic County Retired Educators Association (ACREA) Judy Perkins, retired Mainland Regional High School teacher, has passed the gavel. Roger Baker, retired Buena Regional School District teacher and former ACREA vice president, is the organization's new leader.
"It was more than a pleasure serving as president, and the experience helped prepare me for my present role in the state organization," said Perkins who is currently second vice president of the New Jersey Retired Education Association.
"Retired educators and support staff endorse education in their communities by voting in all elections and assisting community members in understanding how important public schools are to the community," Perkins said.
In addition to their support for public education, Baker and Perkins said retired teachers and support staff can be found volunteering their services and skills in their neighborhoods and in the larger community.
"Our ACREA members are active volunteers with the United Way, service and religious organizations, hospitals and many other groups," said Baker.
