More than 112,000 customers left in the dark

Atlantic City Electric is reporting that it has more than 112,000 customers without power as of 6:40 p.m. Monday night, Oct. 29 in the wake of Sandy's landfall. Atlantic County has seen the greatest number of customers affected with 53,607 customers out, followed by Ocean County 34,607, Cape May County 13,311, Gloucester County 6,493, Camden County 4,725, Burlington County 3,504, Cumberland County 2,969, and Salem County 1,206. Atlantic City Electric’s parent company Pepco Holdings requested 3,700 additional personnel from mutual assistance partners. The company has received commitments for 1,473 crews and is working to secure additional commitments.
