Atlantic City now open, Ventnor still off limits

The mandatory evacuation order for Atlantic City has been lifted as of 10 a.m. this morning, as per Gov.  Chris Christie.

Atlantic County casinos are powering up and will reopen shortly, Atlantic County spokeswoman Linda Gilmore said in an announcement.

Residents may return to Atlantic City and the Atlantic City Expressway entrance into the city is once again accessible.

The mandatory evacuation order remains in effect in Ventnor due to continuing sewer system problems that prevent the system from operating at full capacity.

Access in Brigantine is available via Route 30 only at this time.  Access into Margate and Longport is available via the Margate Causeway and Bridge only.

Volume of traffic on these access roadways may be high and delays may be encountered. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and to anticipate delays. If possible, postpone travel to allow traffic volume to decrease.
