SOMERS POINT - Somers Point is one of six sites across New Jersey designated as launching points for a Saturday Workday for storm cleanup, organized by the group Occupy Sandy NJ.

Volunteers are asked to meet at New Covenant Community Church, 710 New Hampshire Ave. at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 for a day of canvassing and house muck-outs in Ocean City and Atlantic City. Seventy five volunteers are needed to complete the task.

Anyone interested in working in Atlantic City or Ocean City via New Covenant should complete the online volunteer form. See http://www.newcovenantcc.net/Disaster-Relief-Volunteer-Registration

Anyone planning to participate in muck-outs, house-guttings or other demolition work should wear waterproof boots, waterproof work gloves, and heavy duty work clothes. If possible, bring some OSHA-approved N92 or N95 face-masks, although most sites will provide volunteers with this critical piece of safety equipment.
