Awaiting word on Miss America's return to AC

An announcement scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday, Feb. 14) in Atlantic City should confirm whether the unofficial reports tonight are true, that Miss America is returning to Atlantic City.

Acting Gov. Kim Guadagno, serving in place of Gov. Chris Christie who is out of state, is scheduled to make a "Miss America Announcement" at 10 a.m. at the pageant’s longtime home, Boardwalk Hall, according to the official public schedule announced by the governor's office. 

The Associated Press reported earlier this evening that news of the pageant's return was confirmed by Michael Drewniak, spokesman for Christie.

The Miss America Pageant moved to from Atlantic City to Las Vegas in 2006. The first Miss America was crowned in 1921.
