The 50th anniversary edition of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue released this month includes photos of models in Cape May, Cape May Point and Wildwood.
The edition hit newsstands this week.
The Cape May County Chamber of Commerce said in a release that it worked with the state Division of Travel and Tourism to negotiate the photo shoots with Sports Illustrated last July. The models and production teams arrived in Cape May after Labor Day.
In Wildwood, swimsuit models posed in an antique car in front of the Wildwoods beach ball sign.
The Jersey Shore was selected as a backdrop for the 50th anniversary edition in part because of post-Sandy recovery efforts.
“We were pleased to have the opportunity to include Cape May County in the 2014 SI Swimsuit edition,” said Vicki Clark, president of the chamber. “Having Cape May County beaches featured as the backdrop in this publication classifies as publicity more valuable than any advertising can buy.”
