CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Atlantic and Cape May counties will hold its first Wild Walk for Kids 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, April 5 at the Cape May County Park and Zoo.

The group helps mentor local children facing adversity. Funds raised at the event will be used to expand services, allowing more big and little brothers and sisters to be paired up, according to a press release.

There will be a two-mile walk around the grounds of the park and zoo, followed by a celebration featuring lunch, music and activities for the whole family.

Walkers can register individually or form a team at www.wildwalkforkids.org. After completing online registration, walkers can set up personal fundraising pages and start soliciting donations.

The registration fee is $25 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Registration includes lunch and an event T-shirt for each participant.

While there is no fundraising requirement, walkers are encouraged to each raise at least $100. Each “Big and Little match” costs approximately $1,000 a year, according to a press release.

Due to corporate sponsors and registration fees, all donations will go to support children served by Big Brothers Big Sisters. The organization depends on donations to conduct background checks on volunteers to ensure child safety and provide ongoing support of children, families and volunteers to build and sustain long-lasting relationships.

The walk also seeks to raise awareness of the challenges faced by local children, according to a press release.
