 CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Cape Regional Medical Center recently recognized local churches for their support of the breast cancer education and mammogram screening program through the Komen for the Cure Grant.

Gloria Schultz, program navigator for the Komen Reach Out for Life Program, and Bonnie Kratzer, RN, parish nurse/lifestyle management coordinator, thanked the churches at the medical center’s annual luncheon.

Ocean City MSA among country’s job leaders post-Sandy

Job growth post-Sandy in the Ocean City Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) is being fueled in part by construction work, as storm-damaged structures are being repaired or new buildings are being erected.

OCEAN CITY – With the exception of November, the Ocean City Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) continues to be among the country’s leaders post-Sandy in job growth.

In its last report, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) placed the OCNJ MSA, which encompasses all of Cape May County, in a tie for eighth with Columbus, Ind., with 5.1 percent growth for January 2013 over January 2012. That equates to 1,600 more jobs this January than last January in the county.

Dave named medical director of hospice services

 CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Dr. Hemang Dave, a board-certified medical oncologist and partner of Hope Community Cancer Center, has been appointed medical director of hospice services at Cape Visiting Nurse Association.

“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Hemang Dave as medical director of hospice services at Cape Visiting Nurse Association,” said Joanne Carrocino, FACHE, president and CEO of Cape Regional Medical Center. “Dave’s expertise in the care and treatment of oncology patients is well respected in the Cape May and Atlantic County communities. Local towns awarded $50,250 for safety efforts

Towns that are members of the Atlantic County Municipal Joint Insurance Fund (ACM JIF) received awards totaling $50,250 for their safety efforts. All 42 member municipalities qualified for the awards at the 24th annual Safety Kickoff Breakfast by virtue of the successful completion of the safety program criteria.
