To the editor:
When I was in high school we watched videos of "Flo" and her drug-addicted life. She was a prostitute who allowed her life to be documented. She was supposed to be a recovering addict, but she fell more often than not.
This week I couldn't help but remember Flo. No flags were flown at half mast for her, and no one heralded her as an icon. And no one pretended that her lifestyle was glamorous. Isn't there a song about a "puppet on a string."
Young stars are supplied with life-altering drugs, strung along further into the lies until they end up dead or in and out of prison. Some leave legacies of hero worship and drugs to their children.
