Military spending enriches war profiteers, bankrupts the nation

To the editor:
The right and the left prevent us from moving forward.

There are dozens of contentious issues that create the dissonances between the left and the right. None are as important as the focus on America herself and a commitment to the security and prosperity of its people.

We are under threat of going the way of all great civilizations that overextended their empires. Spending trillions for nation building and military bases all over the world is making multinationals and the war machine rich, but crippling our economy and feeding anti-American sentiment wherever we are seen as “occupiers.”

There is a big difference between “defense spending” and “military spending,” as Ron Paul has explained. We can and should increase defense spending, protect our borders and protect our allies – without occupation of neighboring countries.

We did not need to declare war on Pakistan to get Bin Laden where he was hiding.

And we do not need to continue to bankrupt our nation and waste taxpayer money on Iraq and Afghanistan as “preventative measures.” This is the talk of war profiteers and the corrupt lobbying influences on the Democratic and Republican parties.

Capitalism is good.  Corporatization of our government is the achilles heel that will bring America to its knees.
