Biggest South Jersey Stories

  1. Hurricane Sandy – the storm earned its place in history with destruction that still has many along the coast living outside their homes and trying to restore or rebuild.
  2. The New Route 52 Causeway – traveling from Ocean City to Somers Point (or visa versa) has become easier, safer and more scenic. And people in both communities are facing less inconvenience as the construction crews are gone.
  3. Opening of Revel Atlantic City – though the entertainment resort has fallen short of its projections, the casino-hotel has produced nearly 3,000 full-time jobs.
  4. The June Storm – this one pretty much skipped over the shore communities and hit the offshore communities the hardest. Its impact on the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest states made it the most destructive and deadly thunderstorms in North American history.
  5. Parkway Changes – though the reaction seemed over the top, the removal of trees and addition of a fence along the Garden State Parkway seemed to upset a lot of people. The fence was largely removed, though the view that many claimed was blocked is still blocked by trees.

Words of Wisdom: “Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors and let each new year find you a better man.” (Benjamin Franklin)
