To the editor:
According to news reports, the Alabama bus driver who was shot and killed on a school bus knew his attacker. According to these reports, the attacker had many issues related to violent behavior. Also, according to news reports, the attacker boarded the bus. Is there not protocol for school bus drivers?
Do we have to make every school bus driver who violates protocol resulting in weeklong national news headlines a hero? I think not. Lawsuits will follow this event. The bus driver had prevention training but learned his lesson the hard way – and prevented nothing. Rescue and recovery was the talk of the week.
Do we take note when these events happen in other areas?
Let's call in Lance Armstrong to talk prevention.
