Most people who follow high school football in this area know about the talent level of Middle Township’s Zak Vogelei.

But now, quite a few more people know about it, too.

Last weekend, Vogelei was named to the All-Combine team at the Philadelphia stop of the Nike Football SPARQ Combine tour, an event that drew nearly 1,200 high school athletes. The combine was held at the Philadelphia Eagles’ NovaCare Complex.

Vogelei was named to the 22-member All-Combine team as a linebacker. The 6-0, 220-pound junior was clocked at 5.05 seconds in the 40-yard dash and also posted an impressive shuttle run time of 4.34 seconds, which was the fastest of the four linebackers named to the team.

“A three-year veteran of this combine, (Vogelei) has improved each of the past three years and stood out with a solid shuttle time,” a report on ESPN.com said of Vogelei.

Vogelei, a starter since his freshman season who also plays on offense for Middle, is a two-time first team Cape-Atlantic League all-star selection.
