Egg Harbor Township- The Egg Harbor Township High School wrestling team fell to Cherokee on Monday, Feb. 6 in the first round of the South Jersey Group IV NJSIAA playoff tournament. The third-seeded Eagles couldn't keep up with the visiting Braves, who brought a deeper lineup into the quarterfinal matchup.

Cherokee, the Group IV six-seed, claimed a 42-19 victory. The Braves (16-6) avenged a 36-22 loss to EHT on Jan. 7, advancing to the South Jersey sectional semifinal at second-ranked Clearview on Wednesday, Feb. 8.

Joseph Rocks (106-pounder), Gabe Zamot (120) James Ingersol (145) and Kenny Doughty (182) earned victories in their respective weight class matches.

Unfortunately, the Eagles (16-6) were forced to compete without numerous wrestlers due to a recent team issue with the skin infection impetigo and lost three matches by forfeit.

EHT's next home wrestling meet takes place on Monday, Feb. 13 against Cape-Atlantic League oppnent Oakcrest.
