Our Lady of Lourdes, School of Nursing traveled to Ocean City

Every October for the past 40 years, Pat Counsellor and her classmates from Our Lady of Lourdes, School of Nursing, come to Ocean City to spend time together. This year they took The Gazette with them. Dominic and Joan Venezia traveled with The Gazette

They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary during their first visit to Italy. The Gazette traveled to Collingswood with The Shores residents

The Gazette and residents of The Shores at Wesley Manor in Ocean City traveled to Collingswood under the direction of their fitness coordinator, Jim Bartram, to demonstrate their exercise program “moving to the music” and entertain residents of Collingswood Manor Home. Making the trip were Helen Barber, Jane Doren, Freddie Andrea, Lolita Camp, Emma Clements, Elaine Deviney, Mildred Dominick, Mary Field, Phyllis Houer, Alice Kistner, Helene Moreland, Mary Pike, Lillian Richards and Marie Weldon.

Big time 10th birthday

McKenna Fuller, of Petersburg, had a big time 10th birthday. On Aug. 10, local family and friends (and The Gazette, of course) traveled to Camden in a decorated van to the "Big Time Rush" concert, where they met up with family and friends from Delaware and Pennsylvania: a total of 30 girls and moms yelling "It’s my big time birthday!" Her name even made it on the Jumbotron screen.

Nancy Karsner, of Ocean City, traveled with The Gazette as a chaperone for the Sound of America Honor Band and Choir in Stresa, Italy. The 130-member band and choir performed in six countries in Europe for three weeks in July. Carol Shimer-Young and Jim Young (holding The Gazette) flew to the beautiful Pacific Coast town of Newport, Ore. to visit their friends, and former long time Ocean City residents, Sharon and Ralph Busby. The stop to visit the Busbys was the beginning of a 17-day trek that included Vancouver, Canada and the magnificent scenery of Alaska, including the famed Mt. McKinley, the tallest peak in North America. The Gazette, as it frequently does, went along for the ride.

They also saw the Coliseum in Rome, the Tower of Pisa, a windmill in the Netherlands, and the Tower of London.

Once a week during the summer months, residents of the 700, 800 and 900 blocks of Pennlyn Place in Ocean City gather together for a night of Bocce. Participants range in ages from eight to 82 years of age. This summer, players visiting from France and Sweden also participated. The group is known as the Pennlyn Place Bocce Ball Association (PPBBA) and the regulars have t-shirts indicating this.
