Earthwatch volunteers traveled with The Gazette to Uganda

Earthwatch volunteers Valerie Hart, Malcolm Warner, Chris Garsten, John Hanna, Sarah Pattison and Donna Groner, of Ocean City, join staff members Geoffrey Muhanguzi and Herbert Nyombi at the Budongo Forest Reserve in the western part of the beautiful country of Uganda. The team tracked chimpanzees and other primates through the rainforest to collect information on their diet, behavior and changing foraging habits. They also monitored the changing fruiting patterns of the trees the primates rely on.  Visiting a primary school and local farmers allowed them to promote conservation and understand the increasing conflict between farmers and chimps.
