Vacation Bible School

Seaville United Methodist Church’s Vacation Bible School, “Plant the Seeds in the Garden of Eatin,” will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 11-14 for children in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade. Older children can participate as a Shepherd. A registration picnic will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10. There will be hot dogs and smores on the fire and a taste of VBS songs, games and stories and more. This year’s VBS focuses on sustainability and children will be "planting the seeds" to provide fresh produce for the food pantry. VBS and all activities are free and open to the public. Soccer registration

Boys and girls in grades 1-6 can register for recreation soccer. The season begins on Saturday, Sept. 6 and runs for 10 weeks, except for Oct. 11. All games are at Amanda’s Field. The fee is $75. Kindergarten soccer season begins Monday, Sept. 8 and ends on Monday, Oct. 6. The child must be five years old and entering Kindergarten. The fee is $50. Registration ends on Aug. 24. There is a late fee of $25 for recreation and $15 for kindergarten. Register online at www.uppersoccer.com .

Sea Isle event will be a battle of the paddles

The Fish Alley Paddle Fest will include standup paddleboard, surf ski, kayak and SUP-Squatch races. The Fish Alley Paddle Fest will include standup paddleboard, surf ski, kayak and SUP-Squatch races. Harbor Outfitters will host its second annual Fish Alley Paddle Fest Sunday, July 27 in Sea Isle City.

Returning this year is the Battle to the Beach, an 8.7-mile standup paddleboard and surf ski race from Sea Isle’s Fish Alley Basin (Park Road) north through Corsons Inlet and out into the ocean, ending at the 35th Street beach. Men must use a 14-foot standup paddleboard, and for women the requirement is 12.5 feet.

Marmora church to host women’s event 'Conquering Hell in High Heels'

The event will start at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5 and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the church, 20 Route 9 in Marmora.

Benefit for Doug Knobb scholarship

A fundraiser for the Doug Knobb Scholarship will be held from 7-10 p.m. on Saturday, July 19 at McGlades Marina, Second Street and Bay Ave. in Ocean City. Tickets are limited to 100 and are on a first come, first serve basis. Tickets must be purchased in advance. You must be 21 or older to come aboard. Tickets are $30 each, and includes food, drink, music, fun and a three-hour boat ride along the back bay of Ocean City. All proceeds benefit the Doug Knobb Scholarship which awards scholarships to Ocean City High School students. For tickets or information, call 609-602-3949.

Grief Share program

Tuckahoe United Methodist Church will conduct a Grief Share program from 6:30-8 p.m. on Mondays at the church, 112 Route 49 in Tuckahoe. The program is for individuals who are going through the grieving process over the loss of a friend or a loved one or someone who already has and would be willing to help somebody else. The cost of the program is $15 to cover the cost of the book. There will be no meeting on July 28.

Church activities

Second Cape May Baptist Church at 600 S. Shore Road in Marmora is hosting a number of events. There is a Vacation Bible School from children K-5 from 9 a.m.-noon on July 7-11. There is no cost. There will be a Family Movie Night at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 25. Admission is free. A Red Cross blood drive is scheduled for 1-6 p.m. on Monday, July 28. Beach Baptists is set for 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7. A Grief Share Recovery Group starts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
