Rain barrel workshop Wednesday

PALERMO – The Upper Township Green Team will hold another rain barrel workshop at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23 at the Upper Township Senior and Wellness Center.

The center is located at 1369 Stagecoach Road in Palermo. The cost is $20 per person. Registration is now closed.

Canoe and kayak race Aug. 3 on Tuckahoe River

TUCKAHOE – The Greater Tuckahoe Area Merchants’ Association will hold its 33rd annual Canoe and Kayak Race on Sunday, Aug. 3 at the beach at Mosquito Landing Road in Tuckahoe.

The race benefits the association’s scholarship fund.

Benefit for Doug Knobb scholarship

A fundraiser for the Doug Knobb Scholarship will be held from 7-10 p.m. on Saturday, July 19 at McGlades Marina, Second Street and Bay Ave. in Ocean City. Tickets are limited to 100 and are on a first come, first serve basis. Tickets must be purchased in advance. You must be 21 or older to come aboard. Tickets are $30 each, and includes food, drink, music, fun and a three-hour boat ride along the back bay of Ocean City. All proceeds benefit the Doug Knobb Scholarship which awards scholarships to Ocean City High School students. For tickets or information, call 609-602-3949.

Grief Share program

Tuckahoe United Methodist Church will conduct a Grief Share program from 6:30-8 p.m. on Mondays at the church, 112 Route 49 in Tuckahoe. The program is for individuals who are going through the grieving process over the loss of a friend or a loved one or someone who already has and would be willing to help somebody else. The cost of the program is $15 to cover the cost of the book. There will be no meeting on July 28.

Church activities

Second Cape May Baptist Church at 600 S. Shore Road in Marmora is hosting a number of events. There is a Vacation Bible School from children K-5 from 9 a.m.-noon on July 7-11. There is no cost. There will be a Family Movie Night at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 25. Admission is free. A Red Cross blood drive is scheduled for 1-6 p.m. on Monday, July 28. Beach Baptists is set for 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7. A Grief Share Recovery Group starts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9. Library hosting interpretive nature walks

PETERSBURG – The Upper Branch of the Cape May County Library is holding monthly interpretive nature walks. This month will feature “Butterflies and Moths” presented by Sam Wilson of the Nature Center of Cape May at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 19 at the library, 2050 Route 631 in Petersburg.

The walks are held on the third Saturday of each month and are for all ages. Wilson will focus on the different varieties of butterflies and moths native to South Jersey. Participants are encouraged to bring their own binoculars. There will be a limited quantity available.
