Silent auction benefits South Seaville church

OCEAN VIEW – A silent auction is planned for 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 at the Ocean View Fire Hall on Route 9 to benefit the Seaville United Methodist Church in Dennis Township.

There will be a preview of items at 9 a.m. There will be refreshments and music.

 Karla Rivera Bucklew (seated) and Ingrid Forss will perform at the Parkway South Seventh-day Adventist Church on May 3.  MARMORA – A benefit concert at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Marmora will be held Saturday, May 3 for the church’s Family Aid Fund.

The Family Aid Fund Benefit Concert was started in 2006. Each year, Karla Rivera Bucklew joins Ingrid Forss in performing at the Parkway South Seventh-day Adventist Church.

TUCKAHOE - Upper Township Cheer will hold a Spring Fling Community Dance from 6-8 p.m. on April 11 at the Upper Township Community Center in Tuckahoe. There will be light refreshments available, a DJ and games. Kids are $3 and adults are free.

Dances are also scheduled for May 17 and June 7.

Spring Fling Community Dance

Upper Township Cheer will hold a Spring Fling Community Dance from 6-8 p.m. on April 11 at the Upper Township Community Center in Tuckahoe. There will be light refreshments available, a DJ and games. Kids are $3 and adults are free. Dances are also scheduled for May 17 and June 7.

Easter Egg Hunt

Tuckahoe United Methodist Church will host an Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 12. All are welcome to attend. Bring your Easter basket and enjoy the fun. Lunch will be provided.

CrossFit kids clinic

The local cheer and football associations will sponsor a CrossFit 609 Kids Clinic from 5:30-7:30 p.m. May 27-29 at the Upper Township Community Center in Tuckahoe. Register online at www.uppercheer.com .

 Travis Love of Ventnor participates in a discussion at a poetry getaway. SEA ISLE CITY – Writer and educator Peter Murphy will present the ninth annual Ocean View Poetry Getaway on April 25-27 in Sea Isle City.

Poets will discuss issues facing professionals before working with prompts that will challenge them to write for expression and discovery, according to a press release. Workshop sessions will be led by Murphy and Cat Doty, author of a book of poems, “Momentum,” and recipient of a 2011 poetry fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.

TUCKAHOE – The Tuckahoe Volunteer Fire Company will hold its first open house from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 at the firehouse, 2170 Route 50.

There will be a demonstration of the Jaws of Life, ladder truck operations and a firefighter challenge open to the public.

Best of Life seniors group meets in Marmora

MARMORA - The Best of Life seniors group will meet at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8 at Trinity United Methodist Church’s Fellowship Hall, 20 North Shore Road in Marmora.

Bring a casserole and/or salad and a $2 donation. The group is also collecting food for the Upper Township Food Bank.

PETERSBURG – Township committee last week approved the Greater Tuckahoe Area Merchants Association’s request to hold the fifth annual Tour de Tuckahoe bike ride on Sunday, May 4 at Amanda’s Field in Petersburg.

Bingo fundraisers for crew

The Ocean City Crew Boosters will hold Bingo Bonanza Nights at 7 p.m. on March 22 at the Upper Township Community Center, 1790 Route 50 in Tuckahoe. Doors open at 6 p.m. Admission is $2 and includes one four card sheet for the first regular game. For $10, players can purchase a packet with one sheet for each of the 10 50/50 games. $1 per sheet will be charged for each additional regular game. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
