SEA ISLE CITY – The Cape May County Library will hold a “Herb Dish Garden” series presented by Joe Alvarez at the Sea Isle City Branch Library, 4800 Central Avenue, on Tuesday, July 24 at 10 a.m. Registration is required.

Herbs have been used in many aspects of everyday living from preservation to homespun remedies to fabric dyes. In the lecture portion of the series, Alvarez will discuss the history, practical use of and gardening of herbs. In the workshop portion of the series, Alvarez will help decide which herbs would be best for your home and guide you through the planting process, so that by the end of the workshop you will be able to bring home an herb container garden.

Alvarez has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology/Environmental Science. He is a board member of the Friends of Cape May National Wildlife Refuge, a founding member of the Cape May County Beach Plum Association and is active in many county and agricultural programs in South Jersey.

Patrons may attend one or all three parts of the series. It is not necessary to attend all three parts.

Class size is limited for the July 24 workshop so registration is required. A $15 non-refundable materials fee is due upon registration.
