SEA ISLE CITY – The Jennifer Ward Memorial Fund will hold its eighth annual fundraiser from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Sandbar, the outdoor restaurant at the Ocean Drive, 3915 Landis Ave. in Sea Isle City.

The mission of the Jennifer Ann Ward Memorial Fund is to provide Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) with CPR/AED training to public organizations in the South Jersey area.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest is the leading cause of death in America. Statistics show that up to 295,000 Americans die of Sudden Cardiac Arrest every year.

Survival rates increase greatly when someone initiates the Cardiac Chain of Survivor and an AED is available for immediate use at the time of the emergency.

The fund also awards annual academic scholarships to deserving students in the South Jersey area. To date the fund has helped to place 30 AEDs, trained hundreds of people in CPR/AED, spread awareness about SCA, and awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships.

The Jennifer Ward Memorial Fund was established in memory of Jennifer Ann Ward. Ward attended Ocean City High School and graduated from Loyola University in Baltimore, Md. She taught at St. Anne’s Regional School in Wildwood.

Ward suffered a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in 2005 while having dinner with some of her closest friends. She was 29 years old.

The fundraiser will have music by DJ Troy David. Tickets are $25 per person and include a pig roast with beer and wine specials.
