Beef and beer fundraiser

The Upper Township Soccer Association U-14 Vortex/Green Vortex teams are sponsoring a beef and beer event from 6 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 2 at the Greate Bay Country Club. Tickets are $30 per person and include beer, buffet of roast beef, baked ziti, chicken wings and salad. There will be a silent auction, Chinese auction and live music by the Danny Eyer Band. The UTSA is also holding a 50/50 raffle. Raffle tickets are $50 each and ticket sales are limited to 300 or less. Proceeds benefit the U-14 boys and girls soccer teams traveling to the Keele Cup and Donosti Cup in the summer. ALC Open House

The Abundant Life Church Learning Center will host an open house and dance party from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 4 at the learning center, 44 Route 50 in Seaville. Applications for the 2013-14 school year will be available. Children ages two-and-a-half to five years old and their parents can come to see the classrooms and meet the teachers. The children can enjoy a dance party in the Sanctuary led by Lynn Sooy. Each child attending the open house can take a lollipop from the lollipop tree and have a chance to win one month's free tuition. Trinity Nursery School Open House

Trinity Nursery School will hold an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. on March 6 at the school, 20 North Shore Road in Marmora. The school is a Christian daycare and nursery school with part-time and full-time schedules, and offers multi-child discounts and lower rates. The school is open 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Pre-K enrichment programs are offered. Register early for a discounted enrollment fee. For more information, call 390-0974.


Sea Isle Garden Club meets

The Sea Isle Garden Club will resume regular meetings at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 7 at the Community Lodge, JFK Blvd. and Park Road. The annual Green Auction will be held with Joy Sumski as auctioneer. All are welcome.


Soccer meeting

Upper Township Soccer will hold a general meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 7 at the Upper Township Community Center, Rt. 9 in Tuckahoe. All parents and coaches are welcome to attend. Many topics will be discussed, including recreation and Kindergarten programs, training, travel program and summer tournament. Bring suggestions.


International Women’s Day

The Fifth Annual International Women's Day Commemoration Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 8 at Andrea Trattoria Italiana in Sea Isle City. This will mark the 102nd anniversary of Women's Day, which is a national holiday in China, Russia, Uganda and many other countries. Reservations will be accepted by March 6. Historical Preservation Society meets

The Historical Preservation Society of Upper Township will hold its first general meeting of the year at 7 p.m. on March 12 at the Tuckahoe Methodist Church. There will be a covered dish supper and a show and tell. Guests are welcome.


Women’s Club presents ‘Sleeping Beauty’

The Country Shore Women’s Club will present “Sleeping Beauty” at 7 p.m. March 21-24 with a 3 p.m. matinee on March 24 at the Upper Township Elementary School in Marmora. The play features women from the club and their children. All proceeds benefit local community service organizations. Advance tickets are $6 for singles and $5 for groups of 15 or more. Class of `73 reunion

Ocean City High School Class of 1973 will hold its 40th reunion from 7 to 11 p.m. on June 1 at the Flanders Hotel, 11th Street and Ocean Ave. in Ocean City. $80 per person. Food pantry

Seaville United Methodist Church, in conjunction with Caring for Kids, Inc – a parent educator organization also located in the church, has opened a food pantry in the Fellowship Hall at SUMC to serve anyone in the community who may be in need of assistance supplying their family with adequate food supplies. The pantry is located in the lower level of Fellowship Hall and will be open every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Seaville UMC is located at 3100 Shore Road in Seaville (the church with the pond and gazebo). Anyone wishing to make donations to the pantry or to volunteer their time is asked to call the church office at 624-9019.


Zumba classes

Zumba is now at Seaville United Methodist Church, 3100 Shore Rd. in Seaville, from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. every Thursday. Cost is $5.


Quaker meetings

The Seaville meeting of the Religious Society of Friends, better known as Quakers, holds regular meetings each Sunday at 10 a.m. at 3088 S. Shore Road in Seaville. For more information, see or visit the Facebook page “Seaville Quaker Meeting.”


New youth group meets

A new ecumenical youth group will begin to meet regularly at Seaville United Methodist Church, 3100 Shore Rd., Seaville. This will be a safe place to let the children of the community come together to play games, participate in mission activities, eat dinner and have a devotion. Devotions will be led by a different pastor each week and food will be provided. Rooted Youth Ministry

A new youth ministry at Second Cape May Baptist Church for boys and girls in grades K-5 meets 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday for songs, games, snacks and Bible time at Fellowship Hall, 600 S. Shore Road in Marmora. Rooted Middle School Ministry (grades 6-8) gets together at 6 p.m. and Rooted High School Ministry at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday nights in the Fellowship Hall. Young adults (20's thru early 30's) can check out Twentysomething at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. This group is lead by Michael Capito and meets in the Youth Center at 7:30pm. Tuckahoe UMC services

Tuckahoe United Methodist Church, 112 Rt. 49, will hold morning worship services at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday. Children's Sunday School is held at 9:15 a.m. with classes for all ages. The church is open every Monday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for prayer and consultation, except for holidays. A lunch time Bible study is conducted every Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., also with the exception of holidays. The Youth Group meets Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. There will be a group for high school ages and one for older youth. The Junior High Youth Group meets on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. The church choir rehearses Thursdays at 7 p.m. The United Methodist Women meet at 1 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. The Tuckahoe United Methodist Church Men's Prayer Breakfast is held on the third Saturday of the month at 8 a.m. in the church. All men are invited to attend.

Boy Scout Troop 95 signups

Upper Township’s Boy Scout Troop 95 will hold registration for Upper Township boys sixth grade and older. Scouts meet every week, and also have a campout or other activity each month. The Ocean City/Upper Township Regional Rotaract Club (OCUTRRC) is a friendly grassroots organization working to build Ocean City and Upper Township’s unity within the community. Their mission is to "promote international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship and service.” Future events include charity concerts, beach cleanups and fundraisers. Shore Points Presbyterian

Pastor Dan Barr and the Shore Points Presbyterian Church invite you to worship with them every Sunday at 10 a.m. The service is followed by a special time of fellowship and refreshments. The church meets in the VFW Post of Marmora on 15 Lyndhurst Road right behind the Ocean City Home Bank on Roosevelt Boulevard.
