Privatizing trash pickup is a no brainer

To the editor:
Last week I read in the paper that Upper Township committeemen were arguing over the purchase of big trash trucks or small trash trucks at $200,000 each.
Ten of the sixteen communities in Cape May County now use private contractors for their trash and recycling needs to save hundreds of thousands of dollars each year and millions over the life of the contracts.
Isn’t it time for Upper Township to use a private contractor for trash and recycling collection to save money for the taxpayers?
