STRATHMERE – The Strathmere Fourth of July Parade, sponsored by the Strathmere Improvement Association and the Strathmere Volunteer Fire Company, stepped off right on time Monday morning.

The weather was sunny and very warm but that didn’t stop any of this year’s participants. For such a small seaside neighborhood, Strathmere’s parade is one of the loudest and most creative in Cape May County. The parade travels south on Commonwealth Avenue and then turns north on Bayview Drive.

Ken and Jessica Weaver were co-chairs and organizers of the parade this year.

Awards were presented at the Deauville Inn, which once again provided free hot dogs and refreshments to parade participants and spectators. The event ended with a rendition of “God Bless America” by Debbie Vandegrift.
