The Greater Tuckahoe Area Merchants’ Association is offering educational scholarships to students who meet certain eligibility requirements.

Those requirements are: you must be a resident or dependent of a resident, or dependent of business owners who operate within the GTAMA scholarship geographical boundaries, which are to the north, the city limits of Corbin City; to the south, Cedar Swamp Creek; to the east, the intersection of Cedar Swamp Creek and Tuckahoe River; and to the west, the Dennis Township-Woodbine border.

The Doris C. Stowell scholarship program is in its fourth year. One high school senior that meets special criteria established by Stowell will be selected as a recipient of $5,000.

This year, the number of scholarships for the James and Martha Owens and the GTAMA post secondary program will be determined by the number of applicants and the amount of the scholarships will be set later, but will be a minimum of $500.

The Alex and Virginia May Scholarship is $1,000 and is for a high school senior who will attend a community college. The Owens and May scholarships for the high school seniors will be awarded after successfully completing the first college semester and providing the scholarship committee a copy of their transcript.

Application deadline is May 1. Applicants should contact The Greater Tuckahoe Area Merchants’ Association, Inc., P.O. Box 656, Tuckahoe, NJ 08250. See www.tuckahoenj.com.
