CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Dorothea “Dody” McIlvenny, of Ocean View, has been named Cape Regional Medical Center’s “Special Touch Volunteer” for the second quarter of 2012.
McIlvenny provides diligent weekly service as a busy Errand Volunteer. She and her peers attend to more than 20,000 errands annually at Cape Regional Medical Center.
McIlvenny has been an active volunteer at Cape Regional since September, 2007 contributing more than 550 hours of volunteer service. Her prior community volunteer endeavors have also included participation with a local theater group chorus.
“I am so overwhelmed! I did not see this coming,” said McIlvenny. “Due to a condition in my eyes called macular degeneration, I didn’t believe I could be a volunteer. However, another volunteer who has the same condition encouraged me to give it a try, and now I love being a part of the volunteer team at Cape Regional Medical Center.”
McIlvenny was nominated by several volunteer colleagues who said she is very conscientious and always willing to go above and beyond her regularly assigned tasks.
Earlier this month, President and CEO Joanne Carrocino, FACHE, Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing Thomas Piratzky, and Director of Volunteer Services Julie Paolella joined McIlvenny’s fellow volunteers and her dear friend of 22 years, Kathleen Devlin, in honoring her with the presentation of the Volunteer of the Quarter Award. She was presented with flowers, a Special Touch Volunteer pin, gift certificate and commemorative plaque.
