UPPER TOWNSHIP – VFW Post 8695 has chosen two winners in its 2012 Patriot’s Pen essay contest.

The VFW announced this week that Ryan T. Roller and Cassie Quada, seventh graders at the Upper Township Middle School, had won the competition. Each received a certificate of recognition and $25.

The subject of this year’s contest was “What would I tell our Founding Fathers?”

Both local winning essays will be entered into the VFW District 17 Patriot’s Pen contest where the Cape May County winner will be chosen.

Patriot’s Pen is a national contest sponsored by the VFW, which allows sixth, seventh and eighth grade students to express their patriotic views.
