PETERSBURG – The Upper Township Middle School Choir held a fundraiser on Thursday, Jan. 31 to help raise money for the music department.
The students came up with a new idea to raise money by performing songs from past Broadway musicals. The evening was entitled “Broadway Cafe.”
The playbill listed songs from “Annie,” “The Lion King,” “Mama Mia,” “Cats,” “Wicked” and “The Sound of Music” under the direction of music teacher Sue Kosturko.
"They wanted the opportunity to perform and this gave them the chance to showcase their talents," Kosturko said.
The audience, comprised of parents, friends, classmates and teachers, enjoyed desserts after the show. The money raised will help pay for transportation to New York City for the students to see the Broadway play “Spider-Man.”
