SEAVILLE – The Abundant Life Church Learning Center (ALC) in Seaville held a fundraiser last week for a five-year-old boy suffering from a heart condition.
The fundraiser, called ALS is Walking for Gilby, raised money for the family of Gilby McMurray.
Gilby, 5, of Upper Township, is a former student at the learning center. He underwent heart surgery in December. Days after the surgery he had a heart attack and is receiving care at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
Gilby’s parents have had to leave their jobs to care for their son. They also have two other children.
ALC was able to contribute more than $2,200 to the Gilby McMurray Fund as a result of the fundraiser.
The event was designed so anyone could sponsor a student to complete various stations, which were numbered 1-8 and had different activities at each. Children counted, clapped and tumbled their way through a morning of fun.
