STRATHMERE – A small fire burnt through part of the first floor of a real estate office Friday morning.

The Strathmere Volunteer Fire Company, Ocean City Fire Department and the Sea Isle City Fire Department responded to the Grace Curran Real Estate office on the corner of Tecumseh and Commonwealth avenues. An apartment is on the second floor of the building but it was not clear if it was occupied at the time of the fire.

Officials said the fire started in the southeast corner of the real estate office. Firefighters had doused the blaze by 12:30 p.m. and were using hooks to tear off siding to see if the fire might spread.

Commonwealth Avenue was closed to traffic. There were no reported injuries.
