SEA ISLE CITY – The city will host its 23rd annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Irish Celebration this week.
The parade is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 16 at 93rd Street and Landis Avenue and will continue north on Landis to 63rd Street, where it will culminate at KIX McNutley’s and the 2013 Irish Celebration.
Mayor Leonard Desiderio will paint a green line down the center of Landis Avenue to mark the parade route.
The parade will feature many participants, including the Cape Atlantic Police & Fire Irish Pipe Brigade and the Ancient Order of Hibernians Color Guard. Elected officials, civic organizations, local businesses and many others will also participate in the parade, as will Sea Isle’s 2013 “Irish Royal Family” and this year’s grand marshal, Joe McLenaghan, of Sea Isle City.
During the Irish Celebration, the public will be invited to enjoy live music and dancing. Sea Isle City’s beach tag office will special edition St. Patrick’s Day beach tags at the pre-season rate of $20 each. The commemorative beach tags, which are available in limited quantities, will serve as full-season beach passes during the 2013 summer season.
The parade is dedicated to the memory of Catherine “Kitty” Kelly, a longtime resident who recently passed away. She was an active member of the community and she and her family have been avid supporters of the St. Patrick’s Day parade for many years.
