SEAVILLE – A pedestrian crossing Route 9 in Seaville was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday night.

The Seaville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company, Upper Township Rescue Squad and State Police responded to the scene around 7 p.m. Monday, July 21.

Trooper Alina Gutierrez-Spies of the State Police public information office said David Loder, 76, was crossing Route 9 at Evergreen Drive when he was struck by a black Ford Focus traveling north. He was around three feet from the fog line on the side of the road when he was hit, Spies said.

Mihaela Reilly, 24, of Seaville, was driving the car, Spies said. There have been no charges made, she said.

The scene of the accident is near the Shore Acres campground, which is a year-round senior living community where Loder lived.

A part of Route 9 was closed after emergency personnel responded to the scene. The State Police Fatal Accident and Crime Scene unit were investigating the cause of the accident, Spies said.
