Heavy rain expected Tuesday night

Grab your umbrella everybody because it’s going to get very wet beginning as early as Tuesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a preliminary weather advisory bulletin calling for as much as 1.5 inches of rain to fall across South Jersey as a weather system moves to our west.

Small stream flooding could occur, the Weather Service said.

Because temperatures will remain in the mid- to upper-40s, all of the precipitation will fall as rain, the Weather Service said.

Winds will increase throughout the day to 15-25 mph with gusts reaching 45 mph.

Rain will begin falling Tuesday afternoon. The heaviest rain will fall during the overnight hours.

A strong persistent onshore wind combined with today’s full moon could lead to oceanfront flooding, the Weather Service advised.

More information will be made available Tuesday, the service reported.
