The combination of a slight drizzle and below-freezing temperatures has prompted the National Weather Service Mount Holly Forecast Center to issue a freezing rain forecast for the inland portions of Atlantic County.

The advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. this morning.

A light glaze if ice will form before the freezing rain and sleet gradually transitions oer to all rain as warmer air moves in, the National Weather Service said.

“Motorists are urged to exercise caution for black ice especially on bridges and overpasses,” the Weather Service said. “A freezing rain advisory means periods of freezing rain or freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution when driving.”

Temperatures will rise into the 30s and above freezing later this morning, the Weather Service said.
