Don’t get too used to the warm, spring-like temperatures that will settle in by the afternoon of Monday, Jan. 13. Rain and snow showers will begin to settle in on Tuesday setting a stage for winter’s comeback.

Mild Monday for South Jersey

After a one-day chill down, unseasonable warmth returns to South Jersey on Monday, Jan. 13, according to the National Weather Service.

Ironically, mainland temperatures will climb up to an April-like 56 degrees just as the first tax filing booklets arrive in the mail.

However, a low pressure system crossing the Great Lakes will bring us all-day rain in advance of a trailing cold front. The fun starts just in time for Tuesday morning’s commute, the Weather Service forecasts.

Rainy middle of the work week

Tuesday’s weather features periods of rain and temperatures around 53 degrees. About one-tenth to one-quarter of an inch of rain is expected, according to the National Weather Service.

Monday’s and Tuesday’s mild conditions won’t last. This week’s trek into the 50s could be South Jersey’s final taste of warmth until the middle of February.

There’s a chance of rain on Wednesday with a high temperature of 47 degrees. There is a 30 percent chance of snow showers after 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Thursday turns colder with a high temperature of 39 degrees. Friday warms up a tad to 46 degrees but a chance of rain returns, yes again, on Friday evening and lasts until Saturday.

Cold weekend

Look for high temperatures to remain in the upper-30s with a chance of snow showers on Saturday, the National Weather Service says.
