Gusty winds to bring in rush of cold air

Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph could accompany a cold front early this afternoon when it passes through South Jersey and the rest of the Middle Atlantic States, according to the National Weather Service Mount Holly Forecast Center.

The cold front is expected to pass through South Jersey between noon and 1 p.m., the Weather Service said.

At 10:30 a.m., the temperature was 42 degrees in Egg Harbor City with light winds under partly sunny conditions. However, the temperature had already dropped to 30 in Harrisburg, Pa.

The steel city of Pittsburgh, Pa., felt more like an ice city in the arctic, however. The temperature in Pittsburgh was 15 degrees at 10:30 a.m.

South Jersey cools down

Temperatures are expected to drop dramatically during the day on Monday and reach only the mid- to upper-teens Tuesday, Jan. 28.
