Just a few days after snow fell from the sky, the National Weather Service Mount Holly Forecast Center has issued a tornado watch for South Jersey.

The tornado watch is in effect until 5 p.m. for an area that includes Atlantic, Cape May, Burlington, Ocean, Salem and Gloucester counties.

The tornado watch is issued in advance of a band of thunderstorms that could bring gusty winds and brief heavy rain to the area in the next few hours.

A tornado watch means conditions could be favorable for tornadoes to form. However, no tornado or the start of any tornado has been spotted.

Conditions are expected to approve early this evening, the National Weather Service said.
