Hazy, hot and humid

The temperature on Memorial Day reached 86 degrees at the Atlantic City International Airport in Egg Harbor Township and will climb even higher across the South Jersey mainland today.

Thanks to a warm start to the day, the high will approach 90 degrees this afternoon across almost all of South Jersey. The normal high is about 74 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers return

However, showers will return by as early as the late-afternoon hours and could produce gusty winds, brief heavy rain, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers will last through the evening hours and diminish with the cooling of the day.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for South Jersey for the possibility of late-afternoon thunderstorms.

The overnight low will sink to about 65 degrees.

Rainfall should total less than one-tenth of an inch, except for more in areas where thunderstorms form.

No hail is expected to form with today’s storms.

Wednesday cool down

A cold front that will drop out of eastern Canada will send temperatures on a nose dive and create rainy conditions on Wednesday, May 28. The high temperature tomorrow will only reach the upper-60s with about one-quarter inch of rain through the day. The chance of rain is 60 percent with most rain ending by  Wednesday night.
