Almost perfect mid-summer weather conditions are in store for South Jersey on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29 with no-so humid conditions, seasonable temperatures and cool overnight sleeping weather.

And then there is the bad news:

Sun-tastic South Jersey Saturday, Sunday

Thanks to a high pressure system that is settling south over the eastern half of the United States, South Jersey can expect pleasant conditions for the epic Challenge Atlantic City Triathlon and the Hammonton Blueberry Festival.

Expect South Jersey mainland highs in the mid-80s on both days with a calm breeze and mostly sunny conditions. Overnight lows will drop into the leave-your-windows-open range of 58 on Friday night and 55 on Saturday night.

Now the bad news for South Jersey

You’ll want to crank on the air conditioning on Monday morning before temperatures increase and the humidity becomes oppressive.

Monday’s high will get to 84 degrees under increasing humidity and still-sunny and hazy skies.

Even though there will be a chance of summer-like afternoon thunderstorms from Monday through Thursday, the National Weather Service is only predicting about a quarter-inch of rain for South Jersey as shown by the lighter colors on this map./NWS Even though there will be a chance of summer-like afternoon thunderstorms from Monday through Thursday, the National Weather Service is only predicting about a quarter-inch of rain for South Jersey as shown by the lighter colors on this map./NWS Tuesday’s South Jersey mainland temperatures will top out at 87 degrees under similar conditions.

The 90s could return on Wednesday before temperatures retreat a few degrees on Thursday to a high of 87.

As always, Jersey Shore temperatures will drop a few degrees because of an Atlantic Ocean that’s currently (as of Friday, June 27) in the mid-60s.

Chance of thunderstorms

Hot and humid conditions from Monday through Thursday will bring a 30-percent chance likelihood of late afternoon, summer-like thunderstorms. Not much rain is expected, however. The National Weather Service forecasts less than a quarter-inch of rain through Wednesday.

Humid conditions will combine with South Jersey high temperatures in the upper-80s on Tuesday, July 1 to create oppressive conditions and possible thunderstorms./www.weatherbellanalytics, www.weatherbell.com Humid conditions will combine with South Jersey high temperatures in the upper-80s on Tuesday, July 1 to create oppressive conditions and possible thunderstorms./www.weatherbellanalytics, www.weatherbell.com
