Storms knock out power to more than 15,000

A line of gusty winds, heavy rain and severe thunderstorms with frequent lightning marched across South Jersey around 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 8, knocking out power to more than 15,000 Atlantic City Electric customers.

 

As of 9:50 p.m., Atlantic City Electric was reporting 186 separate outages across its service area with 6,700 customers without power in GloucesterCounty.

In CamdenCounty, more than 4,700 customers had reported a lack of service.

In Atlantic County, 1,400 customers were without power.

About 91 customers along Route 50 between CorbinCity and Mays Landing were without power, the largest concentration in AtlanticCounty, according to the Atlantic City Electric website.

The location of outages stretched from Pennsville in western South Jersey, to Tuckerton in Ocean County, Atlantic City in Atlantic County and Cape May in Cape May County.
