Flash flood warning for Cumberland County, Millville

As of 8:08 p.m., radar estimates showed that nearly 3 inches of rain had falling in portions of CumberlandCounty. Locations in the warning area include Elizabeth, Newport, Maricetown, LaurelLake, Cumberland, Cedarville and Bricksboro.

The area of heavy rain appears to be marching up Route 54

An additional 2 inches of rain is possible overnight, according to the National Weather Service.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, highways and underpasses, the Weather Service said.

Do not stay in areas where flooding often occurs, the Weather Service said.

“Go immediately to higher ground,” if area creeks beging to overflow, the National Weather Service said.

A flood advisory remains in effect across most of New Jersey as  2-3 inches of rain is expected across New Jersey during the overnight hours.
