Families were a big part of celebration

Last weekend was the 26th annual Seafarers Celebration in the borough of Wildwood Crest at Sunset Lake. It was a perfect day for a festival because there was limited sunshine and other events throughout the Wildwoods made participation available for many on the island.
The events started at 9 a.m., and ended at 5 p.m. There were craft vendors with wares for Halloween, Christmas (never too early for Christmas), wooden items, pillows and baby clothes. There were T-shirts for your dogs and they made a dog tag while you waited. By the way, it was a field day for dogs at the lake consisting of every kind you can imagine- Labradors, German shepherds, poodles, English bulldogs, and more.
This occasion is a family day and many were there with their family members including Tom and Melissa Frederick with their girls Abbie, Emie, and Ansley. Joining them to view the puppet show were grandmother Karla Frederick and sister Linda Markson. Also on hand for the puppet show was the rabbi of Beth Judah Temple in Wildwood, Jeff Lipschutz with his wife Naomi and son Ari. Ari will be a big brother in October when his new brother arrives. Loryn Deane was there with her triplet grandchildren, Sawyer, Audrey, and Greyson.
Dave Bannon was busy selling hot dogs but had time to pose with wife Liz and son Owen.
Julianna Compare was busy holding on to the family English Bulldog “Otis” and had Cameron and Madison come to take a picture at the bike stunt man booth. Joe Schiff was also there with his grandson Ryan Troiano.
Local school teachers had a bird’s eye view of the festivities from a home right on the lake and they were accommodating in posing for us, including Jeannine Yecco, Mary Malloy, Kathy Toland, and Jackie Gillian. Also there were Gillian’s dad Jack Jaskel and her brother Frank. Mary Ann Wallace was also there with her mom Theresa. If you recognize Mary Ann she is a server at “La Piazza” and both Jackie and Mary Ann were doing a mean “Mummer’s Strut” at Seafarers. There were some staff members from Crest Memorial there including Mary O’Donnell, Karen Cashioli, and Jane McCausland.
Robert Del Monte had his kids Lily and Max at the magic show by the lake. There was also a ‘Moon Bounce” that the little ones just love. Jennifer Davenport Salsarulo was there with her 4-week-old baby Noelle, I’m sure the new grandparents Bill and Linda Davenport are thrilled with their new bundle of joy.
I finished off the weekend by attending the 30th birthday party of Natalie Kuprianov, given by her mom Rose at the Pine Ave. Fire Hall in Wildwood. Natalie is a young woman with special needs, went to Special Services, then attended Wildwood High where she graduated in 2002. Rose Kuprianov is working as a consultant in a personal preference program for a firm that is based in Elizabeth.
The Wildwoods were packed for what is almost the final weekend of the summer.
