OPRA activist files ethics complaints against local government officials

WILDWOOD — A Gloucester City man filed ethics complaints against 39 local officials in the Wildwoods after they allegedly failed to file annual financial disclosure statements.

The local government ethics law requires the annual filing of a financial disclosure statement by local government officers by the April 30 deadline.

City votes 2 to 1 to allow liquor 100 feet from boardwalk

WILDWOOD — Commissioners Pete Byron and Tony Leonetti voted to strike a section from an ordinance that limited the sale of alcohol within 100 feet of the boardwalk on Oct. 26.

Mayor Ernie Troiano Jr. voted against the ordinance, saying he feared it would open “a whole can of worms” that the city wouldn’t be able to control.

Troiano Jr. said he wasn’t a proponent of alcohol sales on the boardwalk and didn’t agree with his fellow commissioners that alcohol sales have a place near the boardwalk.

THE WILDWOODS – Known for its bright red lips and eyelashes above the headlights, Dolly the Trolley – Downtown Wildwood’s free trolley service sponsored by the Wildwoods Business Improvement District – transported more than 7,000 passengers along Atlantic and Pacific avenues from May 26 to Sept. 18.

Cabrera is collecting newborn infants layette size up to 3 months, formula, wipes, baby wash, crib sheets, bibs, receiving blankets, diapers sizes 1 & 2, and school aged K-8 children’s coats, clothing, socks, and shoes.

The Christ Child Society is a National Catholic organization founded in 1887 by Mary Virginia Merrick. The Cape May County Chapter was started in 1982.

Treasury: $2.5M to Crest Bank for small business loans

WASHINGTON – A Wildwood business has received millions in federal funds aimed at increasing jobs with small business loans.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced that Crest Savings Bancorp, Inc. of Wildwood has received $2.5 million through the Small Business Lending Fund (SBLF).

Wildwood photographers win at international show

Wildwood photographer Shawn Malaney of Shooters Old Time Photos was recognized at the 2011 Antique and Amusement Photographers International Photo Contest held in Las Vegas. Malaney placed first in Most Humorous Portrait for his portrait of two boys in 1920s gangster costumes.

Other winning photographs from the company include Mary Wysocki as runner up in Best Green Screen Portrait, Sissy Rutkowski’s third place winner for Best Victorian Portrait, and Honorable Mention awards to Malaney, Rutkowski, and Jeff Ryan. Shooters Old Time Photos, with studios at 2504 Boardwalk and 3412 Boardwalk, recently opened a third location at 4014 Boardwalk.
