The Wildwoods will host seaveral events this weekend to honor Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as kickoff summer 2014.

Wildwoods International Kite Festival airs this weekend
The 29th annual Wildwoods International Kite Festival will bring kite makers from around the world and their colorful creations to the island Friday through Monday of Memorial Day weekend.
The kite festival officially starts 9 p.m. Friday, May 23 with an illuminated night kite fly on the beach at Rio Grande Avenue.
The festival continues Saturday and Sunday, starting at 9 a.m. daily, with the East Coast Stunt Kite Championships featuring the top sport kite pilots in the United States, according to organizers. The championships are comprised of a variety of competitions for individuals, pairs and teams. New this year will be a mass ascension of kites on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 10 a.m.
Also during the weekend, join in the Candy Drop, Running of the Bols, Rev Games or the Rokkaku Team Challenge, fly a kite on the Learn to Fly Field or watch the Fighter Kite Competition.
Returning this year Sunday is the fifth annual Scott E. Spencer Memorial Wildwood Kitemaker’s Competition sponsored by the South Jersey Kite Flyers.
The Wildwoods International Kite Festival auction will be held 7 p.m. Saturday in the WildwoodsConvention Center. The auction is open to the public and many unique kites and collectibles will be up for bid.|
The festivities conclude with the World Indoor Kite Competition 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday in the WildwoodsConvention Center. Kite fliers will showcase their ability to fly a kite without wind, and the performances will be choreographed to music.

Regional Gymnastics Championships
Wildwoods Convention Center. The United States Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs will hold a regional gymnastics championship featuring competitions on the floor, balance beam, uneven bars and vault. The competitions will be choreographed to music and prizes will be awarded. Competitions will be held 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, and 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 25. Philadelphia Flyers Hall of Famer Goalie Bernie Parent will be holding a fan meet-and-greet and autograph session at Gateway 26 Arcade from 7 to 8 p.m. May 24. Crest kicks off summer with the Fabulous Greaseband
The long-anticipated start of the summer season at the Jersey Shore will be celebrated with a free outdoor concert featuring returning favorite the Fabulous Greaseband 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 25 at Centennial Park in Wildwood Crest.
One of the longest-running and most popular bands in the Delaware Valley, the seven-member Greaseband is a rock ’n’ roll party band specializing in favorites from the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s.
The high-energy band has been going strong for more than three decades at venues all along the East Coast and throughout the Delaware Valley.
The concert is free and suitable for all ages. Attendees are welcome to bring a blanket or a chair. CentennialPark is at Fern Road and Ocean Avenue.
The weekly Wildwood Crest Summer Music Series will begin in late June. CentennialPark will feature live music shows each Wednesday and Saturday from June 25 through Labor Day weekend. First Wildwood Memorial Day “Murph” challenge
The first Memorial Day “Murph” workout challenge to raise money for the Wounded Warriors Project will be held 8 a.m.-11 a.m. Monday, May 26 on Morey’s Adventure Pier in Wildwood. North Wildwood Memorial Day Service
North Wildwood's Memorial Day Service is 10 a.m. Monday, May 26, at the North Wildwood Veterans Monument at Spruce and New York avenues. North Wildwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5941 and the city of North Wildwood will honor fallen soldiers. There will also be a service 9:30 a.m. at the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse flagpole where the names of VFW Post 5941 members deceased since last Memorial Day will be read and their service honored.
