To the editor:

We would like to thank all of the people that were instrumental in making the Iovacchini Pasta Benefit a great success.

Particularly, we would like to point out the generous donations made by family and friends, John Whey and the Morey's Organization, the tireless work of the Alfe employees, the volunteers at the door, the persons responsible for the beautiful raffle baskets and the "Aquanets" for a stunning performance.

Letter: Police patrolling beach should do so without guns

To the editor:

Recently, we have noticed fully-uniformed police officers walking in pairs dressed in bullet proof vests, holstering hand guns, handcuffs, and ticket books inspecting beachgoers. They also walk the tide line where many beachgoers sit in chairs relaxing by the Atlantic Ocean. Since we purchased our home on Sixth Avenue in 2003, my wife, three children, extended family, friends, and I have enjoyed this beach, incident and issue-free without exception.

Letter: City should get its act together about bikes, development

To the editor:

The latest article about biking hours on the boardwalk is interesting. As avid bikers and property owners in Wildwood, we enjoy bike riding on the boardwalk whenever possible. However, the last two summers we pretty much had to stop riding there after about 9 a.m. because there was too much congestion — both other bikers and people walking. It just was neither safe nor enjoyable.

Crest would be a poor fit for beach events

To the editor:

I have been coming to Wildwood Crest for 40 years and own a residence for the past 15 years.  Because Wildwood raised their fees for beach events there is no reason for the Crest to pick up these events.  Money, not concern for the residents, is the only reason to allow these events to move to the Crest beaches.  Money for the town or the Moreys as sponsors?

Letter: Column stirred memories of summers on the boardwalk

To the editor:

In response to your “In another time” column of March 6, I worked at Spencer Avenue and the boardwalk in the summer of 1951, ’52 and ’53.

It was called “Marguerite’s Fudge Shop,” owned by Marguerite and Paul Renne. They made their own salt water taffy and fudge. It was two store fronts, one side of which sold candy, the other side had an ice cream fountain, with tables and booths in between.

Seeking ways to support veterans

To the editor:

I read the article in The Leader about raising the price for ice cream licenses. I was wondering if anyone was collecting signatures for a petition or doing any kind of fundraising for the Veterans who this impacts? I'm truly appalled by this and wanted to at the very least offer my signature (as well as my family's names) on a petition.
