offensive t-shirts

OK, so now I’m offended.

It’s actually a little ironic. About a year ago, I wrote a column about people who took offense to a T-shirt on the Ocean City boardwalk. Licensed by a popular television comedy, the shirt included a Latin word that has often been used as a euphemism for sexual intercourse.

Felt unsafe in Wildwood for the first time

To the editor,

I have to say, this weekend was horrible on the boardwalk.

I own a home in Wildwood and have never felt unsafe. This weekend, I felt like I was on constant guard. There were gangs of teenagers running wild with no respect for families or children. The smell of marijuana was everywhere, even inside the Five and Below store on the boardwalk. There was also a fight was getting ready to take place there.

To the editor,

I read the article about proper attire on the Wildwood boardwalk. I think it's a great idea and long overdue. I remember, back in the day, when you couldn't even come up from the beach to get something to eat without shoes and a shirt.  That's how it should still be…what happened to that rule?

To the editor,

I think this new ordinance about attire on the boardwalk is awesome. I am a seasonal renter in North Wildwood and I am appalled at the way some people dress on the boardwalk. It's pretty sad when you have to make excuses to your children on why a person chooses to look like a streetwalker.

New Jersey kid was once proclaimed marbles king

To the editor,

I enjoyed reading your article on the marbles tournament and want to commend the Wildwood School District for encouraging kids to participate in the upcoming National Marbles Tournament.

Although, as was stated in the story, there has never been a New Jersey (or Wildwood) National Marbles Champion, it was a New Jersey kid and his well-known mentor who first fueled the inspiration for creating the national tournament.
