Two Wildwood men from Garfield Avenue face charges after a robbery in which the victim was allegedly threatened with a large kitchen knife.
Police did not say how much cash was taken when the second man allegedly went through the victim’s pockets in the daytime robbery, which took place around 11 a.m. Thursday, March 14. Police say officers recovered the kitchen knife.
According to police, two suspects were identified at the scene.
After a follow-up investigation, police charged two men in their 20s. Both were described as unemployed.
According to Wildwood police, Longino Mercado, 25, an unemployed construction laborer, and Thomas Davis, 22, both of East Garfield Avenue, were arrested.
Mercado was charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, possession of a prohibited weapon and terroristic threats. His bail was set by Judge Mary Darcy Bitner of Wildwood Municipal Court at $200,000, with no option to pay 10 percent.
Davis was charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. The judge set his bail at $60,000 cash.
Both men were sent to county jail, according to police.
