Wildwood man charged with robbing local deli

WILDWOOD—A Wildwood man has been charged with robbing a deli on Rio Grande Avenue Sunday afternoon, police said. 

Luis Castrodad-Julia, 27, allegedly threatened to use a handgun if the employee at Taqueria Maya Deli didn’t turn over the cash in the register. The employee complied, and Castrodad left, walking north on Pacific Avenue, police said.

Police began searching for the suspect, and found him in a residence on the 100 east block of Taylor Avenue. Witnesses identified the suspect as Castrodad-Julia and police placed him under arrest, according to a report from police. Police said Castrodad-Julia also had evidence on him relating to the crime.

Castrodad-Julia was charged with two counts of robbery in the first degree, hindering apprehension in the third degree, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Castrodad-Julia was sent to Cape May County on $260,000 full cash bail.
