Wildwood drug bust nets 5 on heroin charges

WILDWOOD—Police have arrested five Wildwood men on heroin distribution charges after a SWAT team executed a search warrant at 3805 Pacific Ave. Friday, Feb. 21, police announced.

One man was also charged with assaulting an officer.

Police said they found distribution quantities of heroin that were prepackaged for street sale at the residence. Marijuana, narcotics, and approximately $3,600 in cash, which police say is proceeds from drug sales, were also seized.

Jose Perez-Garcia, 22, Edgar Nives, 25, Jose Alicea-Rivera, 28, Xavier Alicea- Goícochea, 18 and Juan Ruiz-Perez, 30, were all arrested and face multiple drug charges as a result of the two-week investigation that culminated in Friday’s search, police said.

Perez-Garcia, Nives, Alicea-Rivera, Alicea-Goícochea, and Ruiz-Perez were charged with the third-degree crimes of possession of heroin and distribution of heroin, as well as distribution of heroin within 500 feet of public property, a second degree crime. They also face two disorderly persons offenses for possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana. 

Alicea-Rivera was also charged with resisting arrest in the fourth degree and hindering apprehension in the third degree.

Alicea-Goícochea also faces charges of hindering apprehension and aggravated assault on a police officer, both third-degree crimes.

Nives was also charged with resisting arrest in the fourth-degree.

All five men were not given a 10 percent option on their bail. Bail for Perez-Garcia was set at $80,000, Nives’ bail was set at $82,000, Alicea-Rivera’s bail was set at $92,000, Alicea-Goícochea’s bail was set at $90,000 and Ruiz-Perez’s bail was set at $80,000.

None of the suspects were able to post bail and were sent to Cape May County jail, police said.
